Living Within the Boundaries of Faith

In life, there are certain activities that simply don't belong in particular contexts. For example, in basketball, tackling is not allowed. It’s a rule of the game—tackling belongs in football, not basketball. The same principle applies to our spiritual lives.

God has given us free will—the freedom to choose whether or not to follow Jesus. But if we choose to follow Him, we also choose to live by His ways. While it's true that we receive mercy and grace through Jesus, the Bible is also very clear about what sin is.

One of the most destructive and prevalent sins in our culture today is sexual sin. Pornography is a major struggle, particularly for men. If you're reading this and battling a pornography addiction, hear this: it is not right to indulge in it. It is a sin. If someone chooses not to follow Jesus, they may live however they wish. But if you claim to know Jesus, then your life should reflect that. You are called to live in purity.

The good news is this: the power of the Holy Spirit can set you free. Many men have found victory through surrender, accountability, and the renewing of their minds through Scripture and prayer.

For women, the struggle with sexual sin may look different but can be just as harmful. Many are drawn into emotionally charged content—romantic movies ("chick flicks") or novels—that paint a false picture of love and relationships. These stories often portray idealized men and unrealistic romance, leading to dissatisfaction, emotional lust, and comparison in real-life relationships.

Though men and women may be wired differently, both are susceptible to sin that begins in the mind and heart. That’s why it’s important to guard what we watch, read, and dwell on.

Ephesians 5:3 reminds us:
“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”

Let us live lives that reflect our identity in Christ—not just in words, but in our thoughts, actions, and habits.
