Abram and his nephew had problems. They needed to be separated. Abram could have the first choice but his nephew had first choice.
There was land that seemed great. It was beautiful so Abram's nephew wanted that land.
There was a problem. That land was sinful.
We need to ask the Lord for wisdom and not rely on our knowledge.
The Lord will give us the wisdom that we need. Abram's nephew will have problems because he didn't apply wisdom.
We can think something is great but our decision will destroy our lives. I see this many times.
It could be a job. The job could have better salary but the stress will hurt the person. The Lord may not want a person to take a stressful job.
Seek the Lord and allow the Lord to move in your heart.
Genesis 13:10-13
10 Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. 13 Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.
