To test any supposed holy book, the first consideration should be: "What proof is there?" Are words proof? Of course not, anything can be alleged to be true. Are beliefs proof? People can be indoctrinated to believe anything. If someone can accurately foretell the future time and time again is historically verifiable, it's an absolute indicator that information is from God. Think about it. If anyone could accurately predict the future there would be gambling industry. Only God possesses the ability to know what is to come. So in analyzing any purported work "from God" the first question should be "What evidence is there that it shows divine inspiration? or prophecy?" All of the Bible's prophecies are historically accurate.
The Bible's Prophecies: The Bible contains over six hundred detailed historical prophecies. It also contains about the same number of "End Time" prophecies. Other "holy books" may prophesy the future. Only the Bible contains provable, historically verifiable ancient prophecies. These are proven to be from God and are completely supported by archaeological evidence. Examples of historical Bible prophecy include:
Prophecy of two exiles of Jews. (Genesis 13:14-15; Isaiah 11:11-12 and Ezekiel 37:21)
Prophecy that Jews would return from the first exile in exactly seventy years. (Jeremiah 25:9-11, Jeremiah 29:10-14)
Prophecy stating the name of the Persian King (King Cyrus) who would authorize the first return. (Isaiah 44:28)
Prophecy giving the exact location of birth of Jesus, the Messiah. (Micah 5:1-4)
Prophecy foretelling the exact day when Jesus would allow himself to be called "king". (Daniel 9:24-27)
Prophecy describing the exact manner in which Jesus would be crucified. (Psalm 22)
There are many other prophecies with specific details about Jesus' birth, life, ministry, trial, execution, death and resurrection.
Another form of prophecy is the scientific insight found in the Bible. This wisdom was given to Biblical authors 2,000 years before science attained it. They include:
Medicine: Principle of quarantine (Leviticus 13:45-46). Later it was used to overcome the Black Plague.
Medicine: Principle of proper waste disposal (Deuteronomy 23:12-14). Today, we take it for granted.
Engineering: The precise dimensions of Noah's Ark (Genesis 6:14-16) are deemed ideal by today's engineers.
Physics: Second Law of Thermodynamics: (Psalm 102:25-26, Isaiah 51:6, Matthew 24:35, Romans 8:20-22 and 1 John 2:17).
Meteorology and Oceanography: Wind and water currents (Job 36:27-28, Ecclesiastes 1:7, Isaiah 43:16, and Psalm 8:8).
Astronomy: The earth is round (Isaiah 40:22).
Astronomy: The earth "hangs" on nothing (in space) (Job 26:7).
Health: The whole basis of food being clean and unclean was to provide proper sanitation and processing to avoid harmful contamination of food (Leviticus 7:26)
