1. “Flee from sexual immorality”
Paul doesn’t say to "fight" or "resist" sexual immorality—he says to flee. This shows the seriousness and danger of it. Sexual sin is not something to negotiate with; it’s something to escape from. In the ancient city of Corinth, sexual immorality was normalized and even tied to religious practices. Paul calls believers to a radically different standard.
2. “The sexually immoral person sins against his own body”
Unlike many other sins that primarily affect others, sexual sin deeply damages the person committing it—emotionally, spiritually, even physically. It violates the sacredness of the body in a uniquely intimate way.
3. “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit”
This is a transformative truth. If you are a believer, your body is not just yours—it’s where God Himself dwells. That means your physical life matters. How you use your body reflects your relationship with God.
4. “You are not your own… you were bought with a price”
This reminds us of the sacrifice of Jesus. The "price" is His blood, His suffering, His life given for ours. Because of that, our lives—including our bodies—belong to Him. We're stewards, not owners.
