You understand the concept

Jesus mentioned a statement about creation in John 5:46-47. What did Moses write? Moses recorded the book of Genesis, which contains the creation account. In the the book of Matthew, Jesus explains that if a person don't believe the writing of  Moses, which includes the creation in six days, the fall of mankind and the worldwide flood. The book of Genesis is written as historical events in the Hebrew language. God tells mankind what happened in the beginning. If we can't believe Moses then we can doubt the Bible.
This makes creation an important doctrine because Jesus honored it as the foundation to the Biblical doctrine.
Jesus spoke about  other statements as to the historical accuracy of Genesis in Matthew 23:35, Jesus explained that Abel was a real person and no a mythical person. In Matthew 24:37-39, Jesus believed the Genesis Flood was a real event and not a myth.

John 5:46-47

46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”
